I was apart of a discussion recently about the lack of a formal paperhammer community site that would allow us to track and update our paperhammer 40k releated downloads. The archive site at BWC is limited by a number of problems, namely the fact that the filesize limit is so low, and that it's built off of list serv technology, which about 15 years outdated. The list of wants included a forum as well as an extensive download section, obviously, with some way to rate the files to filter out the better models. After all, there are like 10 rhino variants floating around out there.

Additionally, what I wanted to see was a download area dedicated to robocutter files, for those of us blessed with a Silhouette SD. After much discussion, I realized that I'm probably one of the only folks financially well off enough, and dedicated enough to actually manage and maintain such a site, so this weekend, I have began work on a site dedicated to just that. It's going to be a week or so until I get the details ironed out, but it is, in fact underway. Stay tuned for more updates! After that site goes live, I'll probably relocate my blog over there, as there won't be much of a point of keeping it here.

Here are some completed shots of the Imperial Guard Leman Russ templates, as designed by Flarebaffled over on the http://zealot.com forums. I haven't taken the photos of the build process yet, as the wife has the camera for the week. But don't worry, I've got about 7 more of these to build, so there will be plenty of progress shots going forward.

I uploaded some of the old White Dwarf and GW articles that have been lost to antiquity over at http://scribd.com . Of particular interest is the Baneblade templates that GW gave us, from the time when they used to encourage us scratchbuilders. While the new model is excellent, there's something about this particular style that really does it for me, personally. There are some other plans available on the internet, such as the BWC Archive, but this is the original set, and I thought you may enjoy:

Last night I finished building the second test Leman Russ, which were just re-arranged files created originally by FlareBaffeled over on the http://Zealot.com forums. You can download the original file there, but I will be posting the modified Robocutter file, in a seperate entry, along with photos of the build process.

In other news, I recently discovered the website http://scribd.com which hosts files for free! What relevance does this have to Paperhammer? Tons actually, as you can find codex's on there for your browing pleasure, such as the 5th Edition Imperial Guard Codex:

You have to create an account to download the files, but you can view them for free online. Wish I would have discovered this website when I lost my Chaos Space Marines codex. I bought a second one, and then the first one turned up at a friends house, so I wasted 30$ on a second codex which is going to be updated within the next year anyway. Le Sigh. Scribd.com would have let me peruse the codex without having to buy a second copy.

NOTE: For the record, I suggest purchasing the Imperial Guard Codex. I simply feel that it's nice to have a digital copy for perusal at work, or to see if you're really interested in the army. I wish I'd have perused the online version of the Chaos Daemons codex before I purchased it; now it just sits on a shelf as that army is totally not for me. An online preview such as the link above would have saved me money, and left me a bit happier with GW.
